This research theme brings together environmental, human and more-than-human research in the School of Geography to examine the evolving relationship between nature and society.
Our research begins from the understanding that environments are socially and politically constituted, and that environmental processes are bound up in the production of social categories, including those of race, caste and gender. This research is organised into four intersecting sub-themes, which examine different processes of geographical change in diverse contexts, including Brazilian mangroves, Indian coastlines, Namibian deserts.
