Dr Isabel CottonPost Doctoral Research Associate in Communities and Environmental ChangeEmail: i.cotton@qmul.ac.ukProfileResearchPublicationsProfileIsabel is an environmental social scientist, with a particular research focus on coastal and marine issues, and public perceptions of these. She is currently researching community and stakeholder perceptions and experiences of coastal change as part of the 3-year RACC programme (Resilience of Anthropocene Coasts and Communities) (for UKRI and Defra). RACC will work with communities and policymakers to co-develop policy options for coastal areas that have a history of legacy waste, alongside a risk of erosion or flooding. Prior to joining Queen Mary, Isabel was a Research Assistant at the University of Glasgow exploring current progress and challenges to coastal adaptation planning by local authorities in Scotland (for ClimateXChange). She completed her PhD at the University of East Anglia, which examined public and policymaker perceptions of managing coastal change and the Bacton-Walcott sandscaping scheme on the North Norfolk coast.ResearchResearch Interests: Impacts of climate change Social dimensions of climate adaptation Environmental justice Interdisciplinary research PublicationsCotton, I., Forster, J., Lorenzoni, I. and Tolhurst, T.J. 2024.
