Introducing our pioneering MSc Natural Capital and Sustainability

Are you passionate about tackling global environmental challenges and shaping a sustainable future?

Launching in September 2026, the MSc Natural Capital and Sustainability programme at Queen Mary University of London is designed for sustainability leaders who share our passion for driving impactful change.

Drawing on interdisciplinary expertise from the School of Geography, the School of Business Management, the School of Biological and Behavioural Sciences and the world-famous Royal Botanical Gardens Kew, this programme responds to the urgent demand for professionals who can bridge the gap between scientific knowledge and commercial investment in nature-based solutions.

Why study with us?

Study in London – a hub for sustainability and business innovation

London is at the forefront of sustainability innovation and policy, making it the ideal setting for your studies. With direct access to industry leaders, environmental organisations, and key policymakers, our students gain exposure to real-world applications of sustainability strategies. You’ll be immersed in a thriving ecosystem of opportunity from networking events to collaborative research projects.

Addressing global challenges with cutting-edge expertise

In response to the triple planetary crises - biodiversity loss, climate change, and pollution - this Masters programme empowers students with:

  • Scientific expertise – develop deep knowledge in areas such as biodiversity net gain, carbon storage (including blue carbon in marine environments), and environmental risk management.
  • Financial and commercial insights – understand market-driven sustainability solutions, natural capital investments, and emerging green economies.
  • Interdisciplinary training – learn from leading researchers and industry practitioners in the fields of sustainability, finance, and environmental science.

Many national governments and international organisations in the public and private sectors have prioritised “delivering for nature” as a key policy initiative, emphasising partnerships between civil society, business, and government. As part of this Masters, you will be equipped with the skills to contribute to this national and global mission, driving meaningful progress towards sustainability goals such as net-zero targets and nature recovery.

Career-enhancing skills and industry connections
