MA Programmes

Study one of our three diverse Masters degree programmes. Whichever programme you opt for, you can shape your degree to your interests with the broad choice of optional modules.

Students in Queens Building

Our MA History offers a rich understanding of the past and equips you to unearth the stories that shape our world while developing critical skills to evaluate arguments and evidence - essential in a world of AI and misinformation. You’ll work with world-class historians and industry experts from Netflix, the BBC, and London's Museums.

Students talking with books

This MA provides advanced training in intellectual history, the history of political thought, and the history of philosophy, spanning the period from the ancient world to the 21st century. It's a unique intercollegiate programme, offered jointly by Queen Mary University of London and UCL.

Lecture in Paris

Study the social, political, cultural, and economic development of two great world cities: Paris and London. Administered by the University of London Institute in Paris (ULIP), the MA in Urban History and Culture is offered in collaboration with Queen Mary’s School of History, School of Geography and School of English and Drama.

The content and structure of our postgraduate modules differ depending on your programme of study. Each programme has a carefully selected set of options for you to choose from. This offering will vary each year in response to factors such as student feedback or staff availability.
