On our programmes, you'll have the freedom to tailor your studies around your interests and get an incredible grounding in historical methodology. You’ll be equipped for Masters’ level research, acquiring intensive research skills and historiographical training.
You’ll master the field’ by specialising in one of several key subject streams for which you’ll research and write your dissertation. Throughout, you’ll have the guidance and support of a subject-matter expert.
Streams may include: Modern British History; Women, Gender, Sexualities; Modern European History; Modern American History; Global Histories of Empire and Decolonisation; the History of the Medieval Islamic World; the History of Late Medieval and Early Modern Europe; the History of Material and Visual Culture; and Histories of Science, Medicine, and Emotions.
Career development is an integral part of your studies, with a unique internship option that gives invaluable hands-on experience and transferable employability skills, through a placement with one of our public history/heritage partners.
For example, you may work with organisations like the National Trust in their mass observation archives, or on local history projects at the Ragged School Museum.
