Launch Event: Indoor Street Party
Home & City: Indoor Street Party at the Geffrye
25 February 2016 2-4.30pm Geffrye Museum of the Home, 136 Kingsland Road, E2 8AE
The Centre for Studies of Home invited residents living on or near the Kingsland Road to an indoor Street Party at the Geffrye Museum of the Home. Through a series of drop-in workshops and displays the Street Party explored what it means to feel at home, or not at home on the Kingsland Road.
The Street Party was held in collaboration with Eastside Community Heritage, artists Janetka Platun, Public Works and Sue Mayo.
Drop-in workshops
The Street Party hosted a range of workshops arranged by local organisations and artists.
Archival display
With support from hackney archives, a small display of maps and photographs showed the historical development of Kingsland Road and the wider neighbourhood.
Globe's film launch
The street party also gave visitors an opportunity to roll 'Globe' around the Geffrye Museum and Kingsland Road, and to watch the film ‘Here Be Dragons’.
