'Like a rolling stone'
Liz came to the UK at the age of 18, companying her sister who moved to London from their home in Montserrat in the 1960s. As many Carribean immigrants, Liz, lived for a number of years in multi-occupational homes around London, and when she was offered a council flat on the Holly Street Estate on the 12th floor in the 1970s, Kingsland Road entered her life. This film takes us back to Liz’s experience of moving around and settling in London and physically revisits the places she hasn’t visited since moving away again in the 1980s—her former home on the Holly Street Estate, and on Middleton Road just off Kingsland Road. The film touches upon the significance of finding one’s place, and one’s home in London as an immigrant and as a person.
