First Aid at Work (FAA Level 3 Award) - HS035

This comprehensive three-day course covers a wide range of first aid emergencies, enabling all participants to deal with emergencies with confidence in a prompt, safe and effective way.

Duration: 3 days - 09:00 to 17:00 (a minimum of 6 hours covered in one day).

Objectives:

  1. Understand the role and responsibilities of a First Aider.
  2. Be able to assess, deal with and report an incident.
  3. Be able to manage an unresponsive casualty (e.g. breathing normally, not breathing normally)
  4. Be able to recognise, manage and provide first aid for illnesses and injuries in the workplace, which includes burns and bleeding. Injuries to bones and muscles. Head, spinal and chest injuries. Poisoning and anaphylaxis. Asthma and diabetes.

Certification: Summative practical assessment is ongoing by the instructor each day, along with a written assessment on each day. Valid for a 3 year period. 

Suitability: This course is open to all QMUL permanent staff who wish to be part of the Queen Mary First Aid team and is ideal for higher or advanced level hazards (e.g. laboratory’s, workshops, working at height or with electricity) or where your needs assessment identifies a requirement to provide additional training, covering a broad syllabus including the recognition and treatment of a wider range of conditions.

Re-qualification: is to attend and successfully complete a 2-day requalification.
