First Aid Awareness - HS039

This course is aimed at all Queen Mary staff and Post Graduate Students on the CPD Training Platform 

There is no requirement for you to have had any first aid training prior to completing this course. 

Course content is in line with the 3-day First Aid at Work classroom course. Whilst not all subjects have been covered, this course will teach you how to deal with most of the first aid incidents that can occur whilst you are at work.  

Learning Outcomes 

  1. Understand the role and responsibilities of someone administering first aid. 
  1. Be able to assess an incident. 
  1. Be able to provide first aid to an unresponsive casualty, a casualty with breathing difficulties e.g. drowning, choking, asthma and a casualty with external bleeding and/or who is in shock. 
  1. Know how to administer first aid to a casualty with burns, anaphylaxis and suspected major illness e.g. seizures, heart attack, stroke.
