This online course is open to all staff and students on the QMPlus. 

This course is intended for anyone at Queen Mary who is using lasers in research setting or is responsible for devices with embedded lasers. 

When you have completed the course you should have a sound understanding of

• basic laser theory
• the types of lasers you may encounter
• applicable legislation
• Queen Mary procedures you will need to follow. 
• hazards that lasers may present
• what kind of controls may be necessary to reduce the risk to acceptable levels 

This course is designed to complement local training provided by your PI or line manager on the specific experimental setup you will be using.
