Mental Health First Aid Refresher - HS041

This refresher course is only for those that attended the 2-day Adult Mental Health First Aid course.

In order to remain a Queen Mary MHFAider you must complete the MHFA England Refresher course every three years. This will provide you with additional support and benefits for three years from the date of your refresher (access to the MHFAider support app and access to ongoing learning opportunities, resources and exclusive events).

Those who received their training before February 2020 and would like to remain a MHFAider, should now complete their refresher training.

Please note, there is a small fee of £20 per person associated with the cost of the training materials, which will be payable upon booking via internal transfer, using your departmental budget code. Please ensure you have received your budget holder’s permission.

Type of training: Face-to-face classroom based.

Duration: ½ day –090:00 to 13:00 (a minimum of 4 hours covered in one day).

Objectives:

At the end of the course, delegates will have refreshed their knowledge of:

  • Mental health and what influences it.
  • How to recognise the main signs of mental ill health
  • How to provide initial help
  • How to guide the person towards appropriate professional help
  • How to be mindful of their own wellbeing

Certification: Everyone who attends the course will receive a copy of the MHFA manual and workbook, which are both excellent support resources. When you have completed the course, you will also receive a certificate to confirm that you are a trained Mental Health First Aider.

Suitability: This course is open to all QMUL permanent staff who remain a Mental Health First Aider by refreshing their knowledge.  Places will be prioritised based on individual’s roles.

Bookings: To register your interest in the course, please complete the MHFA refresher course request form.
