Modern Languages at Queen Mary

There’s more to Modern Languages at Queen Mary than the spoken and written word. You’ll learn about a whole culture through the prism of the language – the history and beliefs, literature, cinema and more.

That could mean working from films and texts in our labs, or taking a role in the foreign language plays we put on in our drama studio.

You also have the option to learn a completely new language alongside something you have (at least) a GCSE in. Professor Jeremy Hicks and two of his students cover the basics here.
