Gender Equality Staff Network

Queen Mary’s Staff Gender Equality Network is a staff led network providing voice, opportunity and connection. The network is open to all staff, regardless of their gender identity and provides the opportunity to socialise, share, challenge and receive peer support in relation to gender equality. The main aim of the network is to undertake activity that will create positive change, advance gender equality and improve the staff experience of its members at Queen Mary.

Network membership is voluntary and open to all staff and PGR students, regardless of their level/grade.

Aims of the Network

  • Provide a confidential, supportive and safe space where members can network, build relationships, share experiences and concerns
  • To champion positive action, diverse representation and gender equality work to create positive change at Queen Mary
  • To create opportunities for members, with a focus on both their career development and personal wellbeing
  • Raise awareness of the issues that members face relating to their gender
  • To identify areas of gender equality related work that should be considered a priority and work collaboratively with university senior management to address these priority areas
  • Work in partnership with Queen Mary’s Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Team on all gender equality issues, including contributing to Queen Mary’s strategies and initiatives and being consulted on decisions that may impact the community
  • To focus on the development of inclusive policies and practices such as event guidelines and gender inclusive language guidelines
