Menopause Staff Network
Queen Mary’s Staff Menopause Network is a staff led network providing voice, opportunity and connection. The network is open to all staff, regardless of their gender identity and provides the opportunity to socialise, share, challenge and receive peer support in relation to the menopause. The main aim of the network is to undertake activity that will create positive change and improve the staff experience of its members at Queen Mary.
Network membership is voluntary and open to all staff and PGR students, regardless of their level/grade.
Aims and Objectives of Menopause Staff Network
- Provide a confidential, supportive and safe space where staff experiencing any stage of the menopause (including peri and post menopause) can seek support and build relationships as w
- To create a supportive community for members to share experiences and concerns
- To ensure Queen Mary is taking an inclusive approach regarding the menopause and to provide feedback and challenge where inclusive practice can be improved
- Raise awareness, provide education and remove stigma about the menopause
- Create opportunities and spaces where colleagues feel more comfortable to have conversations about the menopause
- To identify areas of menopause related work that should be considered a priority and work collaboratively with Queen Mary’s senior management to address these priority areas
- To act as a channel for communication and consultation between staff and senior management
- Create opportunities to ensure line managers are educated on the menopause and how they can support colleagues affected by the menopause
- Work in partnership with Human Resources and the Queen Mary’s Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Team to ensure there is clear guidance and policies to support colleagues affected by the menopause
- To support Queen Mary’s mission to be the most inclusive university of its kind
How to join the Menopause Network
The Parents & Carers Network is hosted on Microsoft Teams. To join simply request to join the networks Teams Site.
The Microsoft Teams site is a private group and though there is some degree of visibility when you join (other members can see who you are), we request that members maintain strict confidentiality about its membership and contents.
If you do not currently feel comfortable joining the Teams site, have any questions or want to contribute in another way, you can get in touch with Liz Grand or Carol Malcolm who work in the central Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Team.
