Digital Platforms and the Algorithmic Patterning of Inequalities

When: Wednesday, November 23, 2022, 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM
Where: G.O. Jones Building Lecture Theatre, 327 Mile End Road, Queen Mary University of London, London, E1 4NS

Please join us for this pre-launch event of Professor Yasmin Ibrahim’s forthcoming book "Digital Racial: Algorithmic Violence and Digital Platforms" in which she examines the intimate relationship between race and technologies through time, propounding that digital platforms and digital capitalism reabsorb racism as an internal arrangement within its modes of technical and affective architecture.

Premising the idea that technologies as supplanting and mirroring the ‘logic’ of racialization as mimetic instruments of social control and violence, her forthcoming book interrogates the present arrangement of platform capital, and its modes of re-abstraction of race into its fibres and terrains of re-territorialization of the human spheres of social, economic and political life.
