When: Thursday, March 27, 2025, 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM
Where: Senior Common Room, 4th Floor, ArtsTwo Building, Queen Mary University of London, Mile End Road, London, E1 4NS

Digital Lives Seminar (with lunch) with Dr Gaetano Dimita (Law)
Video games have evolved from simple entertainment mediums to complex, multifaceted digital experiences, raising critical questions about their legal status. This presentation examines the legal nature of video games through various lenses, including intellectual property rights, contractual agreements, regulatory compliance, and consumer protection laws. We will explore the interplay between copyright law and video game development, delve into governance and human agency, freedoms and monetisation... And hopefully I will provide a comprehensive understanding of the legal environment surrounding video games.
The guest speaker will be Dr Gaetano Dimita, a Reader in Interactive Entertainment and Intellectual Property Law, at QMUL.
Colleagues celebrating Ramadan are invited to bring a Tupperware and to enjoy their food whenever suits them best. Everyone is welcome! Students are encouraged to join!
The seminar is organised by Digital Lives Programme co-directors Dr Cristina Moreno-Almeida and Dr Delfi Nieto-Isabel and Communications Manager Stephanie Amin.
