When: Tuesday, March 18, 2025, 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM
Where: BLOC Cinema, Arts One Building, Queen Mary University of London, Mile End Road, London, E1 4NS

A part of IHSS Visiting Fellow Dr Tawfiq Da’adli’s (Hebrew University of Jerusalem) and "Focus on Palestine" events

The screening of the film Lyd (2024) by Rami Younis & Sarah Ema Friedland (1 hour 19 mins) will be followed by a discussion with the IHSS Visiting Fellow historian Dr Tawfiq Da’adli  (Hebrew University of Jerusalem).

A sci-fi documentary follows the rise and fall of Lyd - a 5,000-year-old metropolis that was once a bustling Palestinian town until it was conquered when the State of Israel was established in 1948.

As the film unfolds, a chorus of characters creates a tapestry of the Palestinian experience of this city and the trauma left by the massacre and expulsion.

The event is co-organised by the School of History, the Centre for Film and Ethics (Film Department), the School of Law, the School of Politics and International Relations at QMUL and supported by the IHSS Visiting Fellowship scheme.
