About the Role


The School of Geography is seeking to appoint a Lecturer in Physical Geography and Geospatial Science on a two-year fixed-term teaching and scholarship contract. The post has an expected start date of September 2024.

About You 


You will have a background in Physical Geography (or related discipline) with expertise in Geospatial Science, a proven track record of excellent educational delivery, and a passion and commitment to delivering an outstanding student experience. 

You will support delivery of our undergraduate and taught postgraduate programmes. These include BSc Geography, BSc Environmental Science and MSc Water and Environmental Management. Expected contributions include thematic teaching in the areas of GIS, geomatics and remote sensing; field techniques applicable to freshwater and terrestrial environments; statistical analysis and data visualisation; as well as developing student study skills, participation in residential overseas field trips, student research project supervision and student advising, as agreed with the Head of School.

The School of Geography at Queen Mary University of London is recognised as an international centre for excellence in teaching and research across Geography, Environmental Science and Development. Teaching and learning within the School benefits from access to a well-resourced Laboratory and Field Suite and dedicated student computer labs for geospatial analysis and environmental modelling. Our undergraduate programmes in Geography and Environmental Science are accredited by the Royal Geographical Society and Community for Environmental Disciplines in Higher Education, respectively.
