In November 2024, the Queen Mary Legal Advice Centre (QMLAC) welcomed delegates from the Hugh Wooding Law School in Trinidad and Tobago for their annual exchange programme.
Students Chelsea and Rodney and Clinicians Gail and Jerome from Hugh Wooding Law School’s Legal Aid Clinic took part of various activities across the week. They visited the Royal Courts of Justice with the QMLAC staff and support team where they had a guided tour and sat in The Hon Mrs Justice Mary Stacey’s court for the day.
They attended an alumni seminar delivered by QMLAC Director Professor Frances Ridout on Street Law methodology, with Linden Thomas, Reader in Clinical Legal Education and Pro Bono and a supervising solicitor for Birmingham Law School's Pro Bono Group. The seminar explained and demonstrated the Street Law methodology, and gave an opportunity to examine how it can be used in other disciplines and professional contexts.
The students observed two modules run by the QMLAC, and assisted on clinic evenings taking notes for appointments.
