Jingzhou Tao is an independent arbitrator with Arbitration Chambers. He has 40 years of experience advising Fortune 500 companies on China-related matters and also advising Chinese companies on cross-border mergers and acquisitions and arbitration and litigation. He has acted as counsel, chief arbitrator or party-nominated arbitrator in over two hundred international arbitration proceedings.

Mr. Tao graduated from Peking University Law School in 1982 and University of Paris I (Panthéon Sorbonne) (D.E.A.) in 1984. He is an avocat à la Cour d’Appel de Paris. He is also an Adjunct Professor in universities such as Peking University Law School, Georgetown University and a specially-invited professor of law for the International Arbitration Program at Tsinghua University School of Law.

He is a Member of the Advisory Committee of China International Commercial Court of the Supreme Court of China, a Member of China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission, a Member of the International Advisory Board of the Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre, a Member of Board of Trustees of Foundation International for Arbitration Advocacy (FIAA), a Member of the Board of Global Arbitration Review. He has also served as Vice Chairman of the Arbitration Committee of the International Bar Association (IBA) and Co-Chair of the Asia Pacific Forum of IBA. Served as one of 12 arbitrators for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games Ad Hoc Division as well as for the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympic Games Ad Hoc Division.

Mr. Tao has published several books in English, French and Chinese on issues such as international arbitration and cross-border mergers and acquisitions such as Arbitration Law and Practice in China, Mergers and Acquisitions in China, Resolving Business Disputes in China, Non-Tariff Trade Barriers in China, Droit Chinois des Affaires ( Econamica), Le Droit Chinois Contemporain, etc.

Catherine Wang ,Clyde & Co will act as commentator. Catherine Wang is an Senior Associate in the London office with extensive experience in international arbitration and contractual dispute resolution with a particular focus on the energy, construction, shipping, international trade, and telecommunication sectors.

The session will be moderated by Professor Loukas Mistelis. Professor Loukas Mistelis is an acknowledged authority on international dispute resolution and investment treaty law. In 2006 he was listed as one of the “leading lights in international arbitration”, 45 under 45, amongst the top 15 highlighted members of the list, is listed on the Who’s Who Commercial Arbitration since 2007 and also a member of the ICSID Panel of Arbitrators as well as the recipient of the GAR Award for best arbitration lecture of 2013. He is also listed as one of the Thought Leaders in International Arbitration.
