Professor Andrew Le Sueur and Professor Kate Malleson were invited by the Supreme Court to organise a seminar to mark the first year of the work of the Supreme Court.
The seminar was held on 30 September 2010 at the Supreme Court building in Parliament Square and was attended by academics, practitioners and judges including ten of the Supreme Court Justices. The seminar picked up on some of themes raised in the series of seminars held at Queen Mary in the run-up to the opening of the Court in 2008-9. Issues discussed included the leadership of the Court, the way in which judges are allocated to sit on cases, the budgetary and administrative arrangements of the court, how the court decides whether to sit in panels of five, seven or nine and the changing nature of the judgment writing process.
