In a letter to The Times Geraldine Van Bueren QC, Professor of International Human Rights Law at Queen Mary Univeristy of London (QMUL), writes about the European Convention on Human Rights and the Human Rights Act. “It is understandable that the government will have too much on its plate to reform human rights law until Brexit is out of the way. However, the next Parliament will have three years to run after March 2019 when we leave the EU. Lord Faulks is right to urge that reform of the act and possible withdrawal from the ECHR should be kept on the table."
