Penny Green, Professor of Law and Globalisation and Director of the International State Crime Initiative at Queen Mary University of London, spoke with TRT about whether international humanitarian law applies to the current conflict, the response from Western leaders and civil society to these breaches of international law, and her interpretation of Israel’s decision to restrict access to vital commodities like fuel in Gaza.

Professor Green said: “We’ve heard international lawyer after international lawyer say that international law has been violated in almost every respect. In fact Israel has violated 28 UN Security Council Resolutions and it has done so with absolute impunity” She continues: “… Israel’s decision to impose a complete siege on Gaza, combined with continuing processes of dehumanisation, segregation and indiscriminate bombing  bear all the hallmarks of genocide.”

She also spoke to the Middle East Eye about how international courts and international law has failed Palestinians in the past.
