Big US tech companies such as Amazon, Google and Microsoft have seen their shares on the stock market tumble since the start of Donald Trump's second term as US President. "The current problem on the markets is the uncertainty linked to Donald Trump's decisions," says Dr Daniele D'Alvia, Lecturer in Banking and Finance Law at Queen Mary University of London. Pointing to instances like his frequently changing stance on tariffs against Mexico and Canada, Dr D'Alvia summarises: “In this kind of uncertain situation, investors tend to sell by fearing a possible upcoming recession.”
