The authors of the FCA Research Note cite Dr Jancic in their discussion of the new opportunities for Britain’s regulatory innovation, the interconnectedness of UK and EU financial markets, and the regulatory aspects that shape the international competitiveness of the UK financial services sector.

Dr Jancic’s journal article entitled “Regulatory strings that bind and the UK Parliament after Brexit” was published in Comparative European Politics. It analyses UK parliamentary scrutiny of key UK export industry sectors – automotive, pharmaceuticals, chemicals and financial services – to argue that the strength of economic interdependence between the UK and the EU and the size and influence of the EU market generate significant pressures for Britain’s regulatory alignment with EU standards, but that there are different factors that indicate the prospects for regulatory divergence too.
