Professor Suthersanen discusses genetic resources and traditional Knowledge for WIPO
Professor Uma Suthersanen was invited by the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO) to join the Ad Hoc Experts’ Committee for the 46th inter-governmental committee meeting on traditional knowledge (and associated genetic resources) and traditional cultural expressions.

She then participated in the Plenary Sessions for the IGC from 26 February to 2 March 2023 in Geneva; QMIPRI holds an official observer status at WIPO. Professor Suthersanen has previously written in this area (with Graham Dutfield) advocating a legal-geography and human rights based approach to the protection of traditional knowledge and related genetic resources.
