Profile

Dr Lucas Taylor is a Lecturer in Law who joined the Queen Mary University of London’s School of Law in September 2024 as part of both the Tort Law and Criminal Law teaching teams. Prior to starting at Queen Mary he held academic positions at Middlesex University and the University of Law. At Middlesex he taught across a range of undergraduate modules before taking on the module leadership of both Medical Law and Criminal Law, and also supervised select LLM dissertations within his field of study. At the University of Law his teaching was focused primarily within the postgraduate degree programme where he taught both the Medical Law and Mental Health Law modules, while also supervising LLM dissertations related to these fields.

Lucas completed his PhD at Queen Mary University of London in 2021 and his research focuses upon the intersection of feminist Marxist Social Reproduction Theory and the reproductive practice of surrogacy, exploring how the embodied gestational labour which is performed can be reimagined both in-line with and beyond capitalist conceptions of valuable labour.

Before returning to study law, Lucas was a Media Supervisor and Senior Planner at a strategic Media Agency in Canada. In this role he was responsible for planning media campaigns, negotiating with vendors across all forms of media, and worked with a wide range of clients including both federal and provincial political parties, various national and provincial trade unions, charitable organisations, as well as a number of clients across the financial industry and retail sector.
