Year of graduation: 2021Name of programme: Art, Business and Law LLMCountry: Belgium and Netherlands
I am currently completing the LLM in Art, Business and Law at the Queen Mary Centre for Commercial Law Studies. This LLM is unique in its field, and is the fruit of the collaboration between CCLS and the Institute of Art and Law. The subject of Art Law lies at the intersection of many domains of law, which represents a challenge both for students and staff. However, my experience within CCLS has been nothing short of amazing.
I discovered the LLM via the Institute of Art and Law, and integrating it seemed like a logical next step for me after completing my undergraduate degree. The LLM covers different fields of the law, from intellectual property law to cultural heritage law, to art and finance and alternative dispute resolution. I was immediately very impressed with how the programme was structured so meticulously and how all the lectures and seminars were well organised which made studying at CCLS an ideal place. Guest lecturers were invited almost every week and they contributed to making the different classes more enriching and fun to participate in.
The students on this LLM are from diverse cultures as they come from different countries. I find that studying with people who come from different backgrounds makes the student experience much more interesting. The knowledge and experience I have acquired during my time at Queen Mary has prepared me for a career in the field of Art Law, and has provided a stepping stone for me as I will be pursuing a second master’s degree in the same field in Paris.
