What influenced your decision to choose a LLM at Queen Mary?

Aside from being a Russel Group university, the program at Queen Mary offered some really interesting mentoring programs. The programs for me would be a wonderful transition point into the legal market in the UK.

How did you find the teaching and learning?

All things considered they did their best. Covid threw the whole world a curve ball and I think even with the shortcomings Queen Mary’s teaching had, they did well. So, I could have had a great experience but sadly it was not what I expected.

What was key about your programme/ were there any highlights?

The Comparative and International Dispute Resolution LLM offered a healthy number of modules both within the specialisation and interdisciplinary that I thought were a standout.

Did you combine modules across specialisations and if so, what were the advantages of this?

Yes, it widened my approach towards my specialisation. Different modules opened up the possibilities to include alternative dispute resolution at a very specific level and I enjoyed that.

What piece of insight or advice would you offer for future students?

Take your time and be deliberate as well as adventurous with your modules. Just because you pick them at the beginning of the year doesn’t mean you can’t change them. Enjoy what you’re learning; that way you can truly offer 110%.

Has gaining a deeper understanding of your specialisation helped your career?

Yes, I had been in corporate and administration for a couple of years before my LLM. The studies have opened up my approach to some of the issues I was dealing with and ultimately made me more marketable as a professional.

What was your best experience of studying at Queen Mary?

The people, Queen Mary’s greatest asset is the people that make the school what it is. A potluck of sorts, when it comes to culture, Queen Mary has a way of making you feel at home.
