Widening Participation

We believe anyone can succeed in a career in law. We are committed to improving access to law degrees for those from groups underrepresented in the legal sector.

A Widening Participation student outside QMULThe School of Law at Queen Mary runs programmes for current and prospective students from groups who may experience barriers in accessing Higher Education and the legal sector, such as:

  • Students whose parents did not attend Higher Education and/or have non-professional jobs
  • Students eligible for Disabled Students Allowance
  • Young carers
  • Those living in local authority care, or care leavers
  • Students who are or have been eligible for free school meals.

We aim to educate about university life, studying Law and future careers and raise aspirations.
