Greetings and welcome to the School of Languages, Linguistics and Film!
As our name suggests, our School, the largest in the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, houses a range of departments that create a vibrant multi- and interdisciplinary environment for research and teaching. The School is home to the departments of Modern Languages and Cultures, Linguistics, Film Studies, Comparative Literature and the Language Centre. As such, our work has a global reach and we foster an environment that supports and enables thinking across national, linguistic and other boundaries on a range of topics that relate to the literary, the visual, the social and much more.
Located in the Arts Building on the Mile End campus, our staff partake in the vibrant and diverse cultures of London’s East End. Our researchers actively engage in many of the research centres within the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. Our commitment to diversity enables creative thinking across contexts whilst also supporting in-depth and rigorous study. For these reasons, our culture at work is welcoming to new colleagues and we thrive on conversations, both ongoing and new, to push forward the horizons of our areas of expertise.
We look forward to learning more about you and knowing what synergies may develop from your application.
