If you are looking for support with academic writing, reading, presentation skills, preparing for exams, planning, time management, and structuring your work you can come to one of our in-person drop-in sessions. The sessions run every week in the Mile End Library. There's no need to book, you can just turn up!
A drop-in session is an unstructured session open to all students at the university. There is no need to book onto a drop-in, you can just turn up. In the session there will be an experienced adviser present, with whom you can discuss any issues or problems you are having regarding academic writing, reading, presentation skills, preparing for exams, planning, time management and structuring your work.
You can come along to any session you like and stay as long as you like. How you use the session is up to you. You might have a specific question in mind you want to ask the adviser, or you might just want a quiet space to work independently, knowing there is an adviser on hand for if/when you have an issue understanding something. Either way, we encourage you to bring along some tasks to work on whilst you're in the session, as the adviser may be busy with another student when you arrive and so you might have to wait to talk to them.
Senior Academic Skills Advisors cannot proofread or edit your work.
Drop-ins are every week on Wednesday from 2pm-4pm in the Mile End Library Seminar Room (on the ground floor; go through the two sets of double-doors in front of the turnstiles and cross to the back of the open plan section)
