The Caroline Skeel Archives Reading Room

Westfield College Coat of Arms designed in 1933. The design is a shield in black and gold with the emblems of a hand, book, and a bear's paw. The cross and the book are taken from the coat of arms of the University of London. The left hand is from the crest of Constance Maynard, the first Mistress of the College. The brown bear's claw is taken from Mrs Sarah Benedict Brown's (first Treasurer of the college) coat of arms, and honours both Mrs Brown, and Ann Dudin Brown, the founder benefactress.
