Once you are fully enrolled and receive your student card, your library account will be operational. Your student card also functions as your library card.
Queen Mary has three libraries. The Mile End library is a large multi-disciplinary library. The Whitechapel library holds Medical and Dental material and the West Smithfield library holds Medical material. Queen Mary students have access rights at all libraries.
You can borrow books using the self-service kiosks located in all our libraries. You will need your student ID card and Library PIN. If you do not know your Library PIN, you can request a reminder using the Reset PIN facility. For full details on borrowing, renewing and paying fines see the Borrowing Basics webpages.
You can browse our print and on-line collections via Library Discovery.
The library subscribes to over 16,000 online journals and 142 databases. These resources can be accessed via Library Discovery. Whilst on campus you will have direct access to the majority of these resources without the need to login. To access resources off-campus, login with your Queen Mary ITS username and password. This can be done using the red banner which displays at the top of the Library Discovery page when off-campus or when prompted as you click through to an item.
A few items may still require you to re-enter your Queen Mary username and password, you will be prompted to do this. For others you may need to register or find the login on the platform page.
A small number of resources require a publisher-supplied username and password. Check the password list [PDF 200KB] for details.
For more information on accessing and using our e-resources collections, go the E-Resources News & Helps webpages.

Student PCs are located in all the libraries. You can login to the PCs and Wifi using your QMUL ITS username and password. Find out more about your ITS account and the services available via the IT Services for Students webpages. See the PC availability service for current PC availability in locations across the university.
Printing & Photocopying
Printing & photocopying credit can be added to your student/library card, online via your QM ipay account.
Print jobs sent from Student Service PC’s or from laptop devices can be released at any printer within Student Service labs and the libraries. The Library Multi-function Devices (MFD’s) can be used to photocopy and scan as well as print. Swipe your student ID card at the card reader attached to each device to collect and pay for your prints and photocopies.
