Facilities: Queen Mary visits the Library in November 1936
The facilities offered to students have changed dramatically over the years, as a results of changes in the way subjects are studied and as technological advances have been made. The original Palace Library offered 17 tables and 24 reading stands. The first catalogue for the library was began in 1887 in a handwritten book. It was produced at short notice and had many errors. It was typed and printed in 1888 (Peoples Palace Journal 1 No 1 16 November 1887, Volume 1 No 1 25 Jan 1888).
Renovations took place when the Library reopened in 1921, following a period of closure. By 1935 the Library had seating to accommodate 140 readers (College Calendar 1935-1936).
