Collections: Students at work in the College Library c1920s
In 1921 the College Library was re-established in the Octagon building, a full-time College Librarian was appointed, and new collections established including 9000 volumes, of works of general science, mathematics, electrical and mechanical engineering, geology, biology and history. A collection of 3000 books on Elizabethan and Shakespearean literature was also donated by Sir Sidney Lee.
By 1932 the collections had expanded thanks to other donations and included modern and classical language sections and English and foreign science journals. In 1935 the collections comprised of 23,000 volumes (College Calendar 1935-1936).
