Your Library membership is automatically set up as part of the enrolment process. Your student ID card is also your Library card, the barcode on the front of the card will allow you to gain access to the Library, use self-service machines and photocopiers. Search the Library Catalogue for information on books, journals and databases available in the Library's collections.
Self service machines are available in all Libraries, allowing you to borrow, renew and view your Library account. You can also renew, place holds and view your current loans by using the Self service links. For more information on borrowing, loan limits, fines, etc. please visit the Borrowing basics webpages.
Library Services manage subscriptions and access to a wealth of information through electronic journals and databases. All students are issued with a teaching service account, allowing them access to the Student Service PCs located at various points on all campuses. There are several clusters of Student Service PCs located in each of the Libraries. To find out where PCs are currently available, try the PC availability tool.
Printing and photocopying services are provided in all Libraries; a print credit system is in operation, credit for which can be purchased in any Library from a print credit vending machine. Photocopying is also managed through a credit system, recharge kiosks for these are provided in each Library. Queen Mary Libraries maintain collections in a wide range of disciplines to support teaching, learning and research. However, it is not possible to hold everything. There are a number of options available to help find items not held in Queen Mary collections.
Queen Mary has reciprocal access arrangements with other University of London Colleges; open to all staff and students of the College. It may also be possible to access the Library of an institution not part of the University of London through the SCONUL Access scheme, open to research students and academic staff.
