Queen Mary has three libraries. The Mile End Library is a large multi-disciplinary library, catering for the majority of the University. The Whitechapel Library holds Medical and Dental material and the West Smithfield Library holds Medical material. Queen Mary students have access rights at all three libraries.
You can borrow books at the self service kiosks at Whitechapel and Mile End libraries. You will need your student card and PIN. If you do not know it, fill this form to receive your PIN. Find full details on borrowing, renewing and paying fines.
You can browse our print and on-line collections via the library catalogue. You can also access your course reading lists via Reading Lists Online.
The library subscribes to over 16,000 online journals and 142 databases. These resources can be accessed via Library Search. When on campus you will have direct access to the majority of these resources. When off campus, it is necessary to authenticate using your Queen Mary username and password. This can be done using the red banner which displays at the top of the Library Discovery page when off-campus or when prompted as you click through to an item.
A few items may still require you to re-enter your Queen Mary username and password, you will be prompted to do this. For others you may need to register or find the login on the platform page.
A small number of resources require a publisher supplied username and password. Check the password list [PDF 200KB] for details.
