Andrew Robertson awarded prestigious Research Fellowship

Only ten RAEng/EPSRC Research Fellowships are awarded each year, across all branches of engineering; the highly prestigious award is designed to be a stepping stone to a successful research career, and will fund Andrew and his associated research and travel costs for five years.

Andrew’s research focuses on the development of new performance systems for rock and pop music, aiming to create dramatic effects through the use of engineering technology in the fields of live music performance.

He commented: “I feel very honoured to have been awarded this Fellowship. I'd like to extend a big thanks to everyone for their support with the application. This is a really exciting direction of research and I look forward to working on the project here at Queen Mary.”

Professor Mark Plumbley, added: “This major achievement will allow Andrew to undertake an exciting research programme in automatic musical accompaniment in a great venue! Congratulations Andrew!”
