Academics researching molecular biology and clinical medicine have been named on Thomson Reuter’s Highly Cited Researchers 2015 list which recognises the top one per cent most cited papers published between 2003 and 2013.
Professors Jack Cuzick, Patricia Munroe, Mark Caulfield and Panos Deloukas from QMUL’s Barts and the London School of Medicine and Dentistry all published papers that rank in the top one per cent in the world by citations for their field and publication earning them a spot of the prestigious Thomson Reuters list.
Cardiovascular researchers Professor Munroe, Professor Caulfield and Professor Deloukas were all recognised in the Molecular Biology and Genetics field and Professor Cuzick who researches cancer epidemiology and clinical trials was listed in the Clinical Medicine category.
Professor Mark Caulfield said: “It is a real honour to amongst the world’s most highly cited researchers in genetics and great to be in the company of my research collaborators Patricia Munroe and Panos Deloukas."
Professor Patricia Munroe added: “I’m delighted to be on the list. This recognises my research and my colleagues’ into genes and heart diseases.”
The Thomson Reuters Highly Cited Researchers list annually recognises the leading researchers around the world and focuses on mentions in other research of contemporary published between 2003 and 2013 rather than historical achievements. Papers are ranked against those published in the same field and in the same year so that new papers are not disadvantaged against those published in the past.
Professor Jack Cuzick said: “As our work is mostly collaborative, this is really recognition for the whole group of our collaborators, but I am delighted to receive this award on their behalf. This also is an important achievement in raising the profile of preventive medicine, which is where my efforts are focused.”
