Queen Mary’s Professor Joshua Reiss appointed Entrepreneur in Residence for Science, Engineering and Technology

While at Queen Mary, where he is currently Professor in Audio Engineering in the School of Electronic Engineering and Computer Science, Professor Reiss has founded three spin-out companies. The first of these, LandR, is an award-winning automated music mastering service with over 3 million subscribers and a current value of $40m.

His most recent spin-out company, Nemisindo, is based out of the Queen Mary Enterprise Zone. It aims to use innovative technology to completely remove the reliance on sample libraries for sound effects by offering intuitive tools to generate any sound.

Professor Reiss is highly respected within his sector. He has been awarded a prestigious Enterprise Fellowship from the Royal Academy of Engineering, been the inventor of over a dozen patents, and developed technologies that have been widely licensed to or acquired by industry.

A key component of his role will see Professor Reiss lend his wealth of experience and expertise to established and aspiring entrepreneurs from within his areas of specialism. In doing so, he will help researchers to develop their scientific advantages in ways to benefit the wider public.

The voyage from proof-of-concept to prototype to product is a wonderful experience, and I aim to support our community in that journey."
