In the latest in our 'In Conversation' series - which has previously featured high-profile politicians such as Ken Clarke, Diane Abbott, and Nick Clegg - we will be joined by Rushanara Ali MP.
Rushanara will be reflecting on her early life in Bangladesh, moving to Tower Hamlets at the age of seven, working at the Foreign and Home Offices, and defeating George Galloway to become a Member of Parliament in 2010. In conversation with Dr Robert Saunders, Rushanara will be talking about her time as a Shadow Minister during Ed Miliband's leadership, the state of the Labour Party today, her role as Shadow Minister for Investment and Small Business, and Labour's prospects for the next general election. Finally, as Rushanara is QMUL's local MP, Robert will be asking her about the challenges and opportunities for East London in the coming years.
This event will be held in the PP1 Lecture Theatre in the People's Palace at Queen Mary University of London. Doors will open at 5.45pm and we aim to start at 6pm sharp. It is open to all and will be followed by a short reception to which all attendees are welcome.
