The Mile End Institute is offering three bursaries for students from East London from the Schools of History and Politics & IR for the academic year 2017-2018.
The Mile End Institute is offering three awards of £1,000 to students in the Schools of Politics & IR or History.
These bursaries will be granted to students from East London and are part of the Institute’s work on community involvement, civic participation and local politics.
In return for the studentship, the recipients will be expected to assist at Mile End Institute events and support the Institute with digital outreach and community engagement.
Eligibility:
These awards are offered to undergraduates who will begin their second year of studies in September 2017 and whose home was in East London prior to their recruitment to QMUL.
It is expected that the successful candidates will be able to demonstrate their academic interests in modern British history and/or contemporary British politics.
One award will be made to a student of History, one to a student of Politics & IR and the third is available to students of either school.

• Name• Subject & Year group• Student Code• Short CV (no more than 2 sides)• Evidence of your residency in East London (the boroughs of Hackney, Tower Hamlets, Newham, and Waltham Forest in inner London, and Barking and Dagenham and Havering and Redbridge in outer London) prior to joining QMUL.• Please write a short text (no more than 400 words) explaining what you think is the most pressing policy challenge for East London.
Shortlisted candidates will be invited for interview in the week beginning 26th June.
