Materials for Aerospace Applications

Module code: EMS605U

Credits: 15.0
Semester: SEM2

Contact: Dr Chinnapat Panwisawas

The selection and use of appropriate materials is already a critical factor in many aerospace applications and will probably become even more important in the near future; from lighter and stronger materials for fuel-efficient civil aircrafts and unmanned vehicles, to better creep-resistant materials for improved performance turbines to higher temperature protection materials for space mission re-entry. This module will be the opportunity to gain an all-rounded understanding of several materials classes (metal, ceramic, polymer and composites), including their selection, use and manufacturing, in the practical context of aerospace applications.
