Schoenberg Pierrot Lunaire and other works
One of the enduring Classics of the 20th Century, Arnold Schoenberg's Pierrot Lunaire has had a huge impact since its premiere in 1912. From the strange, macabre world of Albert Giraud's poetry (translated by Otto Erich Hartleben and delivered in the famous Sprechstimme style), to Schoenberg's unusual choice of instrumentation, the work continues to fascinate and bewitch audiences across the globe. This concert traces that impact: music influenced by Pierrot, along with works that influenced Schoenberg himself, are inserted between the existing movements of this masterpiece. The result is an extended version of the piece, giving new insights into the bizarre and mysterious world of Pierrot Lunaire. Other works by Bach, Brahms, Anton Webern, Alban Berg and Luciano Berio.Alluna was created through a desire to bring creativity and freshness to both new and existing music. Based in London, ALLUNA was founded in 2013 by a group of performers from the celebrated Park Lane Group Young Artists scheme.
