Spitalfields Music - OCTAGON

15 January 2016 - 30 March 2016

Time: 12:00 - 12:00am
Venue: This event is not open to the public

Marking the sixth year of the partnership between Spitalfields Music and the Royal Academy of Music, Octagon is a creative composition project inspired by QMUL’s Octagon.  Built in 1887 the Octagon was originally the College library, designed by Victorian architect ER Robson and inspired by the Reading Room at the British Museum.
RAM Open Academy Fellow, composer James Moriarty, will be gathering creative ideas from Year 5 pupils at Canon Barnett and St Matthias primary schools for a new site-specific-piece to be performed in the Octagon in March 2016.  During the spring term pupils will work with music leader Jessie Maryon Davies to learn the new piece and to create their own compositions inspired by this magnificent building.
