Family Involvement
Family Involvement helps family members or friends to provide effective support and care to patients with severe mental illness. This intervention will draw from the discipline of 'Trialogues' or Psychosis Seminars that bring together many patients, their family members and mental health professionals into regular meetings, where mutual learning occurs through the sharing of experiences on pre-agreed topics. Meetings will be chaired by a mental health professional, and in some cases, a second facilitator, who will be another professional or an attending patient/family member.
For this intervention, mental health professionals will be Psychiatric Community Officers, Occupational Therapists,Social Workers, Nurses, Psychiatrists or Psychologists. Meetings will take place monthly over a 6 month period.
