Hearts at Barts
4 February 2017
Time: 1:00 - 5:00pm
Venue: Pathology Museum (3rd Floor Robin Brook Centre) St Bartholomews Hospital site West Smithfield London EC1A 7BE
Attend a four hour workshop at Barts Pathology Museum to learn the exact techniques used to preserve human specimens in pathology collections today. The museum's technical curator, Carla Valentine (trained at The Royal College of Surgeons, UCL Pathology Collections and The Gordon at Kings) will guide you through the current method as you 'pot' a fixed lamb’s heart to take home with you. As a Valentine's treat you will have the option to turn the usual jarred heart into a romantic decoration by adding red heart confetti. There will also be a red ribbon to tie around the top and optional gift tags in case you want to 'give your heart' to someone special! As usual, expect a tipple in the form Carla's trademark red 'Heartini' made with Hendricks Gin.
