These include academics from other institutions, clinicians, and specialists from the medical industry.

Mr Ioannis Goutos is the Programme Director for the Aesthetic Medicine programme. He has broad academic interests, including the pathophysiology and management of burns pruritus. His clinical consultant appointment at Barts Health NHS Trust commenced in January 2017 and involves spearheading the development of a burns service in the east London catchment area. He established London’s first specialist burns service attached to a major trauma centre which treated 150 patients in its first nine months; equivalent to four seriously injured people each week. He is a reviewer for the main burns journals, Burns and Journal of Burn Care and Research, as well as an associate editorial board member of the International Journal of Burns and Trauma. He is currently part of an international group called Scar Academy, which aims to transform scar management globally and member of ‘Interburns’, a charity focusing on improving burn care in low to middle income countries through the provision of education and training.

Dr Haidar Hassan is a substantive clinical senior lecturer, module lead and the lead for student experience. He is a member of the British Council of Aesthetic Medicine (BCAM) and Joint Council for Cosmetic Practitioners (JCCP). His areas of research interest are regenerative treatments/materials and platelet-rich derivates such as PRF/PRP/growth factors, oral microbiology, oral implants and peri-implantitis. His research has been published in various peer-reviewed journals, and he was awarded the 1st British Council of Aesthetic Medicine Research Award in 2019 for his clinical paper on “Injectable Platelet Rich Fibrin (i-PRF) in Aesthetic Medicine – a prospective consecutive cases audit of outcome”.

Dr Vania Hiratsuka Dalmedo is a clinical lecturer, and Lead for Clinical Days and External Engagement. She is also herself an alumna of the Aesthetic Medicine programme, completing her dissertation on the topic of “Management of Bruxism and Masseteric Hypertrophy with Botulinum Toxin A”. Her expertise lies in non-surgical treatments such as Botulinum Toxin A for facial rejuvenation and bruxism, Dermal Fillers and Regenerative Medicine using growth factors (PRP and PRF) for facial rejuvenation.
Dr Bashar Shatta is a Senior Clinical Lecturer and Module Lead on the programme, and has a leading role in curriculum development, student supervision and examination. He is a qualified general practitioner, skin surgeon and aesthetic doctor with wide experience in these fields. He is a member of the Royal College of Surgeons of England (MRCS) and fully registered with the General Medical Council (GMC). He is also a member of The Joint Council for Cosmetic Practitioners (JCCP).
Dr Sebastian Cotofana is an associate professor of anatomy in the Department of Clinical Anatomy at Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Science, Rochester, Minnesota. He additionally is an honorary professor of Pirogov Russian National Research Medical University, Moscow, Russia and a visiting professor at the University of Belgrade, Serbia. His research interest is in translational and clinical anatomical research with special focus on age-related changes of the human face and medical education. He has published more than 100 peer-reviewed articles, book chapters and online communications.
Dr Anna Maria Fenech Magrin is the Deputy Course Coordinator for the Aesthetic Medicine programmes at Queen Mary. She is also a Clinical Senior Lecturer in Aesthetic Medicine. Her special interests are in regenerative medicine and the application of cadaveric anatomy to aesthetic medicine.
Dr Sean A Fitzpatrick is a dedicated aesthetic medical injector focusing on bespoke anti-wrinkle dermal filler treatments among others. He has performed thousands of aesthetic treatments throughout his career and completed his masters degree in Aesthetic Medicine with distinction from Queen Mary in 2019, where he is now an honorary lecturer. He is also an associate member of the British College of Aesthetic Medicine and provides training in aesthetic medical injectables as well as doctor mentoring.
