Barber Beaumont Professor of the Humanities, Professor Quentin Skinner is one of the most highly regarded scholars of the History of Political Thought in the country. He has produced an extensive list of publications and is widely regarded as one of the founders of the ‘Cambridge’ school of the history of political thought.
Professor Georgios Varouxakis’ work has focused on nineteenth and twentieth-century intellectual history, with a particular emphasis on cross-cultural exchanges, comparative and transnational history, and mutual perceptions.
Professor Andrew Fitzmaurice joined Queen Mary in 2020. His research has focused on the ideologies of European empires. Andrew’s work has also focused on Europeans’ justifications for the appropriation of land and sovereignty in the non-European world from the sixteenth century through to the twentieth.
Being an intercollegiate MA programme, you will also have access to leading experts from our partner UCL, with the core course being taught jointly across UCL and Queen Mary.
